Torremolinos is one of the largest and best-known holiday resorts along the Costa del Sol. Although, at first sight, Torremolinos does not look particularly attractive, the town has more than one facet: on the one hand, there are the building excesses committed during the sixties and seventies, with a large number of high-rise hotels, and, on the other hand, areas with smaller hotels and facilities. On the beaches one finds lots of beach stalls (chiringuitos) where fried fish, snacks and cool drinks are sold. The path from the beach to the city centre consists of a number of stairways. The visitor who is looking for real Andalusian food will not have an easy task, taking into account the enormous amount of foreign restaurants and fast-food establishments. It looks as if every nationality has its own bar and the nightclubs play the most recent musical themes until the early hours of the morning.
