Mijas and Mijas Costa form a municipality divided in two parts. Whereas Mijas Costa is located on the Coast and contains several areas close to Fuengirola (El Faro being one of them), Mijas village nestles in the mountains behind Fuengirola. It is one of the most attractive of the so-called “white villages”. Its whitewashed houses cling together all along the hillside. The pedestrians and the donkeys used as taxis make their way along the narrow streets. A wide variety of shops sell handicraft objects such as leather articles, pottery and other traditional products.
